Donations will be matched 6 to 1!

Gateway to the Arborway
- A DCR Matching Grant to Extend the Fence -

We are still short of our goal to extend the incomplete Arborway fence. A generous donor has offered a new CHALLENGE GRANT to match each dollar you contribute!

The state/DCR will double this amount, turning every $1 into $6 toward the project! ($25x2=$50; state share = $100, so $25 becomes $150)

Once the fence is complete, new tree and shrub planting can begin. This new fence will prevent crossover traffic, tree loss and other damage! To view the actual plans for this area click here. Plans are located in the left margin, under the heading "Gateway to the Arborway Landscape Treatment Plan."

Our community’s share is $24.00 per foot – how many feet can you sponsor?

All donations are tax-deductible!  No donation is too small or too large, and all will help to achieve our goal.

Please make checks payable to “Jamaica Pond Project” and put “Arborway Fence” on the memo line.

Mail donations to: Sarah Freeman, 22 Arborway, JP, MA 02130Deadline is April 2.

For information, call Sarah Freeman at 617-524-0602 or Ann Stillman at 617-524-2387.

This project is an ongoing collaboration of local residents, 18 neighborhood associations, institutions, and park friends groups coordinated by Arborway Coalition and Jamaica Pond Project.  THANK YOU IN ADVANCE TO ALL!

  1. Please Note: The deadline has been extended through April. The community has been amazing: 112 donors so far - JP rocks!

  2. Why is the fence a good idea? As a pedestrian, it makes me feel caged in.

  3. Unfortunately, the fence reduces driver's view as well as pedestrian vision of oncoming cars for people crossing from median to residential side of arborway. It was a contributing factor in the crash that severely injured a family member. Hopefully DCR will see the wisdom of design modifications to make pedestrians and bicyclists safer.
